The projects inspiration sparked from the beauty of light hitting stonework in the evening. Focusing on old traditional buildings in Scotland. Focusing on the softness of summer evenings. The photographs I have taken are calming to me; from both the colours in image but also the memories of me and my family having fun evenings out together. My designs are translating brickwork and building structures into a textile collection. A main goal has been creating textiles that are good for the planet, body and mind. Wallace and Sewell have been a huge source of inspiration for their use and placement of colour and care for sustainability. Marketing towards slow living and making a collection which fits circular economy: the textiles come from the earth and go back to the earth. By designing to fit with circular economy the collection is more sustainable. All designs are 100% wool a sustainable and luxurious material. My finals have been designed to be reversible so they have a double life: can be used to create different moods or interior settings. It has been a joy experimenting with new techniques and pushing my own abilities. Though by doing so creating designs quickly has been challenging. Each challenge with this project has been most welcome as it helps myself as a designer develop my skills.
